What do we wear to our photo session? - Spring 2021 edit. //

One of the most common questions we get asked is, "What do we wear to our photo session?"

So this is just a short guide as a helpful resource to those who need / want it, this guide in particular specifically relates to the Spring. However and to contradict I do not specify that people need to follow a guide for what to wear on their shoot. The most important thing about attending a session with me

is that you show up as yourselves and that you feel comfortable so please please only wear

clothing that makes you feel that!

Spring is a time of renewal - a perfect time of year for family, engagement, maternity and children’s milestone shoots. The weather is usually picking up, we all feel happier with a little less frost in our faces, the flowers are blooming and the parks are becoming green again. So it is a great time to get outside, wear some lighter clothes and jump in front of the camera!

For Spring, I would recommend that you wear light layers just in case it is a bit chilly

or even windy on the day of your session. I also tend to move in and out of shaded areas

when shooting outdoors.

Overall, light shades white, cream, denims, light pinks and light floral printed dresses, cream or khaki chinos, white tops.… burnt orange or browns also compliment the denims and light colours.

These are all great spring shades and compliment a spring outdoors backdrop. It might sound daft but coordinating shades of these colours with your family can work really well.

Even subtle coordination can look really natural.

For family sessions you could even think about incorporating family memorabilia, whether its a blanket, a piece of jewelry or the little ones favourite toy feel free to bring it along and have it feature in your photos, we want to capture the real essence of you and these things help to do that.

Equally if your little one wants to come dressed as a princess or even buzz lightyear I have

no problem with you considering that as an option - kids dressed up often make for some really quirky and fun photos and again, in years to come will help transport you right back to the phase in

life that we captured you all in. Which is why we are here!

To narrow it down, I would say that for family sessions in particular picking 3 or 4 colors as your palette, is a good starting point. Comfort is key in all types of sessions but maybe most importantly

in family sessions with kids. If kids are uncomfortable or don't like their outfits, it may be more challenging to get those authentic smiles. I hope that helps!

Any questions feel free to email me ahead of your shoot.
