What to wear for the perfect Autumn Photoshoot.

Like no other time of the year – with its glorious golden, orange and deep red leaves. Autumn is one of my favourite times of year for outdoor photography! It’s usually a playful and fun family experience too, your children can enjoy exploring nature and having an adventure, whilst I capture some natural and relaxed moments for you!

The landscape is filled with Reds, golds, greens and bronze, so it can be useful to choose a good outfit to bring out the best in your photos. There are often lots of lovely pinks, browns and oranges around in Autumn too, so picking colours that are going to compliment the background is a good start! Like beige, creams, burnt oranges, navy blue or grey. Don’t shy away from brighter colours like oranges, mustards, berry shades, greens and reds either, which also work perfectly against most Autumn backdrops.

Think layers and textures when choosing what to wear to your Autumn Family Photoshoot! And as we never know exactly what the weather will do in this country, I always suggest layering up when choosing your outfits for our photoshoot. Long-sleeves, jumpers, scarves and coats can all be added on or discarded depending what the weather is like on the day.

Black might feel like a lovely ‘safe’ colour, but in Autumn it can make you look washed out against the lovely natural colours of the Autumn leaves. So it wouldn't be my first choice when deciding what to wear, I would maybe opt for blue or a soft grey instead!

Here are just a couple of examples of how you could start to translate a wardrobe into a palette that works in unison for all of the family. The clothing types can be adjusted to what you have in your own wardrobe. Shades can be based on your tastes.
